Patty was surrounded with love from family and dear friends who comforted her in her final days spent at Villa Marie Claire. Born Patricia Schroeck and raised in Cliffside Park, in September 1989 she married Harry Pfaff of Ridgefield. After residing in various communities, they moved to Ridgefield in 1997 to start their family. She gave birth to Madeline Anne Pfaff in April 1998 and to Katie Eileen Pfaff in December 1999. A proud and loving mother, Patty adored her children and devoted herself to them. As she dedicated herself to provide the best for her girls, she embraced the community of Ridgefield and brought love and passion to her many volunteer activities. Patty supported our schools, serving as VP of Slocum-Skewes PTA and VP of the Ridgefield Music Parents Organization. She was best known for and most proud of her 10 years as leader of the Ridgefield Girl Scouts and two troops. She believed girl scouting was essential for guiding young girls so they could build character, learn values and serve the community as part of growing into strong young women and future leaders. She led over 15 girls to earn their Bronze Awards, including Katie, and one Silver Award earned by Madeline. Patty’s love for nature also benefitted Ridgefield as she has worked to protect open space, support the Nature Center and Community Garden, and teach children about their environment. She was appointed to the Ridgefield Environmental Commission, and was serving her fifth year. Patty was recognized for her community work in 2010 when Mayor Anthony Suarez nominated her as Ridgefield’s Volunteer of the Year and she was honored with other volunteers at a ceremony led by Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney. A 1979 graduate of Bergen Community College, Patty built a career in the medical field. She worked for 10 years in the medical department at the Port Authority of NY and NJ and for 20 years as a medical assistant and office manager for several doctors. A year ago she started working at Fuda Tile in Ridgefield, which allowed her to be close to home to support her community activities. Much of her life was spent bringing fun, laughter, joy and happiness to her family and many friends, and always working to make things better. She loved music, art, food, cooking, hosting parties, travelling, nature, birding, the beach and skiing, things she always shared with her friends. She also loved her faith and the quaint community church of St. James Episcopal. Patty was devoted to her entire family. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Harry Pfaff, and daughters Madeline, 15, and Katie, 13; her mother Eileen Schroeck and younger sister Nancy Schroeck, nephew Tanner Connors, and mother-in-law Lucie Pfaff, all of Cliffside Park.
